News January 20, 2025
Since the Fall of 2016, Sunday Sinfonia Orchestra has collaborated with the Albright College String Chamber Orchestra, and occasionally the Concert Choir. The combined group was called “Sunday Sinfonia at Albright College” for the duration of the collaboration. Albright provided us with a “home” by hosting our rehearsals and one of our two concerts every season. They also provided promotional materials and programs for audiences at both of our seasonal concerts throughout that period. We are eternally grateful for their support during this time.
We are sorry to announce that, due to circumstances beyond our control, as of January 20, 2025 we are no longer partnered with the college.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Albright College for their support over the last 8 years, and we wish them well in the future.
About Us
Sunday Sinfonia Orchestra is an community orchestra under the direction of Simon Maurer. The Sunday Sinfonia Orchestra originated in 2010 as the “Sinfonia Orchestra” at the Pennsylvania Academy of Music (PAM) in Lancaster, PA. Founded by Simon Maurer and one of his students, Gail Frederick, the goal was to provide a place for adult community members to play in a casual orchestra. The orchestra at that time was divided into Chamber Music and String Orchestra, with rehearsals split between the two styles. Sinfonia Orchestra played free concerts at local retirement homes.
